What do you want to see first?

I’ve been working on some stories all related to Shadows in the Limelight, which I have posted here. The intended order for the series is:

  1. Shadows in the Limelight
  2. House of the Wardens
  3. In the Hands of the Heartless + Just In Time
  4. The Moon and the Ocean
  5. Bones of the Golden (placeholder name)
  6. [Order of the Influence story; might be replaced by Light in the Shadows]
  7. Light in the Shadows

However, my motivation is dwindling, and I want to put in the effort into just one story instead of three at the same time. So, I’m letting you guys pick which one you want to see first. If I don’t get enough votes (i.e. less than 10 people voting) by June, then I’ll do the intended order.

Before you vote, I added some info about each story to help you choose. I’ll try not to give spoilers, so the summaries might be a bit uninteresting or turn you off.

Shadows in the Limelight
This is the basis for all the other stories. It’s about Alexander Wondersmith and his journey through college, relationships, a web of lies, and navigating his way through a gigantic war that will envelop the entire world.

House of the Wardens

  • 2011: You know how the tutorial of Prodigy Math has the Puppet Master coming to the Academy, chaining everything up, that stuff? That’s basically this part but I changed a couple of details (I changed a lot).
  • 2025: This part follows the Wardens as they work, hang out, and figure out the truth behind their nation in a year-long Easter egg hunt.

In the Hands of the Heartless

  • Pallet Valley: During the Siege of Pallet Valley, Evan, his family, and his friends are trying to stay alive while everything collapses around them.
  • In the Wild: Same concept as the first part but with more action

Just In Time
This gives insight into what happened to one character.

The Moon and the Ocean

  • The Ocean: Nova Oceandancer learns some things she wasn’t supposed to know. I promise there’s more than that
  • The Moon: Nova’s friend, Aurora Moonsong, starts following the footsteps of Nova. I also promise there’s way more than that but I just can’t spoil much

Light in the Shadows
What if the Puppet Master had defeated the wizards of Prodigy? Inspired by 1984.

Notes

Production speeds will vary. I can’t say too much about how fast and when chapters will be made, but this is what I can say so far:

  • If you choose Light in the Shadows to be made first, you most likely won’t hear about it until 2027 (best case scenario) or 2028 (not the worst case scenario, surprisingly).
  • If you choose Shadows in the Limelight or In the Hands of the Heartless, chapters will be released faster as I have a clear plot.
  • If you pick In the Hands of the Heartless, you also get Just In Time, a short story.
  • If you choose House of the Wardens or The Moon and the Ocean, you might not see any chapters until late 2026 to late 2027.
  • All of these are kinda slow-paced.

In case you’re wondering, the other two stories are not on this list because the plot for those are still a heavy work in progress.

update since my poll in the prodigy fanon wiki is probably done with:

  1. light in the shadows - 9 votes
  2. shadows in the limelight - 8 votes
  3. house of the wardens - 5 votes
  4. in the hands of the heartless - 2 votes

ok so after about a month of working, i’ve gotten some more things i can say about the stories (time to speak “normally” in a reply for once)

Shadows in the Limelight

  • On hold for now
  • Slow burn
  • Major plot rework underway

House of the Wardens

  • Chapters will release the fastest because I actually have motivation to work on this
  • Part 2 will have lots of jokes
  • D i a l o g u e

In the Hands of the Heartless

  • Meant to be very bleak and to destroy you emotionally
  • Both parts are slow-paced
  • Part 2 is more violent and has more action
  • Just In Time is almost halfway done

The Moon and the Ocean

  • On hold
  • Might be merged with House of the Wardens

Light in the Shadows

  • Not developed at all except for the ending

General

  • No one has much plot armor, so expect tons of character deaths
  • All stories will contain some swearing and death
  • There might be some short stories on top of the big stories, so feel free to give me ideas

Should House of the Wardens and The Moon and the Ocean be merged?

Context: Both stories overlap a lot and generally go together. The Moon and the Ocean also doesn’t have much planned for it. The only problem is that House of the Wardens is already planned to be pretty long.

Also, something else to note is that there will be a new story that will run alongside the other stories. I’m still deciding on a name, but for some teasers:

  • Based on vibes I got from The Road by Cormac McCarthy
  • Will probably lean closer to a short story
  • Mostly separate from Shadows in the Limelight
  • Will be pretty bleak
