Wrote all of these \/
Flames lick my heels, a burning chase;
My skin bears the scars of your eternal pain.
Your torment, a shadow I can’t erase;
Engulfed in dread, lost in this rain.
Guilt’s heavy chains, a tightening hold;
Through fire and fear, my mind takes flight.
Truth or deception, a story untold;
Screaming within, I succumb to the night.
A hopeful vision, that distant star,
A fragile whisper, just out of reach.
Can’t lose you now, we’ve come so far,
The silencing void cutting off my screech.
-
Shadows claw my spiraling mind,
The scars of losses I can’t leave behind.
You’re lost to a darkness I can’t undo,
And I’m consumed by worry, my fear for you.
The events of past, a rope that ties me down,
As I run through the wreckage of this burnt-out town.
The line between the truth and the lie, a shimmering haze,
I scream at the silence, trapped in this maze.
A hopeful thought, never mine to preach,
That pleading whisper I struggle to teach.
-
Ashes trail behind my frantic flight;
The sting of failures, am I still too late?
I watch your sorrow, helpless in this fight;
Caught in the fire, I’m about to break.
Guilt’s cold hand tightens around my throat;
Trapped in this nightmare, an unending blaze.
My own screams unheard, a silent note;
Lost in this spiral, this confusing haze.
A fleeting glimpse, a whisper soft and low;
A phantom promise I’ll forever chase.
Into the darkness I won’t let you go;
but if I keep this up I might end in your place.
The bird and the boy:
Once there was a bird and boy,
The bird gave the boy a feather,
Told him it was no toy,
It was their greatest treasure,
And the boy said he to the bird,
“I’ll keep it safe for you,”
He gave the bird his word,
To them he’d remain true,
And for many days and many nights,
The boy and the bird were friends,
Played under sun slept under starry lights,
They thought it would never end.
Then one day the boy got home,
And in a fit of rage,
He saw the feather lying all alone,
And set it ablaze,
UF
The happy one
The sunny one
The one that’s filled with light.
But sometimes clouds block out the sun
And sometimes darkness blocks the light.
Sun shines through
And light shines past
But the problems are still there.
You keep on shining through it all
To let them know you care.
Clouds darken
Darkness thickens
Still you brightly glow.
Keep glowing brighter than the problems
So that they’ll never show.
